PROJECT DETAILS:
Client: HD Supply
Agency: Hatch Films
Date: 2021
Type: Animation, 3D, Design, Illustration
PRODUCTION NOTES:
Homer D. Poe has been an iconic mascot for The Home Depot for over 4 decades. Over that time few changes have been made to his look thanks to the design talents of creator Gene Fleszar. However, with this new merger, The Home Depot wanted to bring Homer to animated life and I was contracted to re-create the iconic mascot. This process involved creating a complete library of Homer in numerous poses in such a way that all of his body parts could be interchangeable and animated. The outcome was a 1 minute animated promo sequence showing off Homer in his new HD Supply uniform.
FROM PRINT TO DIGITAL
Starting off, I was provided with flattened eps and jpg images hand drawn for printed circulars and ads. This meant that Homer wasn’t designed for digital use and I went on to “translate” him in a fully articulated illustration using Adobe Illustrator.
